Mine has rebooted while playing video on Kodi and the Youtube app. It seems to do fine otherwise, no issues after sitting idle for hours or even a day.

KPP (kernel patch protection) kicks in when the processor is doing floating-point related operations. It could be that the KPP implementation still has a bug - which wouldn't surprise me given how many cases I had with the initial installation of it (and why LiberTV succeeds on average 1/4). I am constantly working to improve these odds - and Luca's code isn't the easiest to work with.. Patience would be appreciated.

Experienced reboot shock also while watching video preview from Appstore app, resulting in jailed device again. Better not touch this again.

My device comes alive several times in a past few days, without me or anyone else touching the remote controller. Now the reasonable explanation for that kind of behavior should be that I have some kind of telekinetic abilities, which I higly doubted or someone is shamelessly spying, which is
really, really evil and fucked up.

This could actually be the case if you got liberTV off of a mirror. Wouldn't be a concern if you downloaded the IPA from here. In the former case, I'd suggest to maybe restore your TV - that wipes the root partition and therefore would clean any malware - but would also lose JBability for the foreseeable future. that said, a new bug is very likely to surface by iOS 10.3/TvOS 10.2.

Downloaded .ipas from this site only, or at least I think I have. Any way to scan the file system for malware?

Latest - as of March 12, 2017 -

Code: Select all
[root@Qilin libertv]#  openssl sha1 libertv.ipa
SHA1(libertv.ipa)= 2fa871c5a742f154a3fc420aa8a1e58134709baf
[root@Qilin libertv]# openssl md5 !$
openssl md5 libertv.ipa

No matter what my auto update settings are on my apple tv it tries to update on its own. The main reason I want to install the jailbreak for now is to stop the updates. I know it is a tethered jailbreak but is there any way to remove files from the OS itself so the update fails even if the TV is in a non-jailbroken state. Main reason I ask is because if my power goes out at my house, I do not want the Apple TV to reboot and update on its own to 10.1.1

The forced auto update is because AAPL are #$%#%$#%. They think they know better. The JB is such that if it succeeds but once, and disables auto updates, it's enough - even after you reboot (to a non JB state), the auto updates will be disabled. That's because I removed the permissions of software updated (that nagging daemon) to its directory.

Thank you for your work :-)

I have two questions for you.

1. It is possible to bypass the 7 days re-jailbreaking of tvOS with LiberTV?

NO. This would require a code signing bypass 0-day. However, it is a minor annoyance, since you only need it IF you reboot your TV after seven or more days. And normally your TV stays on, and - unlike a phone - is plugged to power.

Hi, I have seen in the FAQ that there is no need to repeat the jailbreak every 7 days.
But I must be doing SOMETHING wrong, since without turning off the Apple TV 4 it happens again, it DOESN´T ALLOW me TO open LiberTV.app
I'm doing it through Cydia Impactor on the Mac with a free account.
Can someone help me please?

UNLESS you turn it off after 7 days. J basically argued that since it's a device that remain plugged in, there would be little need to turn it off. But basic code signing rules still apply, no magic involved here.
