LiberiOS device panic'd after ~140 day of uptime

Postby ethanarbuckle » Mon Apr 08, 2019 8:59 pm

Hello!
I'm maintaining a farm of jailbroken iOS 11 devices, all jailbroken via LiberiOS. The devices have great uptime (over 100 days), but they tend to panic as they near 150 days.

I'm curious as to the reason for the panics. We had a brief discussion about this on twitter a few weeks ago, and you offered to take a look at a panic log for an affected device (so here I am :D ). It has taken awhile for another device to panic, but here is the log: https://ghostbin.com/paste/6azjw. This ipad died right around 140 days up.

To give context as to what task these devices are performing (i'm going to be vague but our DMs contain more detailed information):

1. Device is unlocked
2. Application gets installed to iPad
3. /usr/bin/custom_binary is invoked via ssh
4. Application is uninstalled
5. Device is locked

This isn't by any means urgent, but if you have some spare time willing to be thrown at this, I would appreciate it!

150 days of uptime is already significantly better than what other half-baked jailbreaks can reach.

Please don't hesitate to ask for more info

Paste 6azjw was not found.

But I do want to see this. Also I'm hoping to release a LiberiOS update for 12.1 when I get the chance because from what I've tested on my iPod7,1 the current JB is fickle.

Saw it this time, looks like reason is launchd (=initproc) exiting, which naturally should never happen. Not sure it's LiberiOS's "fault" since I don't even touch launchd. Will look into this, but might be hard to reproduce given 100+ days..

Putting a portion of the log here for reference:

it also can't be ruled out that its a bug in apple code. these devices stay busy 24/7 and iOS isn't as stable as it used to be.

I will continue to upload panic logs to this thread whenever this occurs (which is very infrequently).

Thank you for taking the time to look into this!

Another device panic'd overnight. This log looks very similar to the first one. The file is too large for PasteBin, please let me know if you have issues viewing on this service: https://paste.ee/p/1V1Iv

This iPad was up for 139 days (almost exactly the same as the previous). It runs under the same conditions (very heavy use)
